George Town, Grand Cayman, February 18, 2021 – Members of the Cayman Islands Insurance industry came together at the Kimpton Seafire Hotel on Saturday 13th February to support the 9th Annual Black Tie Gala & Scholarship Fundraiser held by the Insurance Managers Association of Cayman (IMAC). The annual event raises funds for the student scholarship fund which over the years has raised in excess of US$4.7 million and has enabled 58 young Caymanians pursue further studies around the globe in disciplines as diverse as Business Management, Arts and the Sciences.
Lesley Thompson, Chair of the IMAC Education committee commented “The difficult challenges that presented themselves in 2020 showed us it is more important than ever to support our youth and continue to support the educational development of the next generation.”
The event, originally scheduled for September 2020 but rescheduled due to the pandemic was not impacted by the change in date. With a record turnout of over 360 attendees a total of US$43,000 (80% increase on 2019) was raised for the IMAC Educational Scholarship Fund.
Alex Bodden, Managing Partner at RSM Cayman added “We were delighted to continue to support the annual fundraising gala, as we have seen over the years the important role the IMAC scholarship fund plays in helping students achieve higher education that might not have been possible without financial support.
